Following a carnival-centric post on his Instagram page, Dancehall artiste Konshens’ account has been blocked from Instagram recommendations and viewers who do not follow him.
On Sunday, Konshens shared a video featuring his collaborative single with Trinidadian singer Preedy, Money Run. The soca single is accompanied by visuals of a lively road march featuring several men and women showcasing raunchy dance moves.
On Monday, Konshens shared a screenshot of a notice from Instagram that his account can not be shown to Instagram users who do not follow him, as the activity on his account may not follow their recommendation guidelines. The deejay’s account and content are also blocked from Instagram’s explore page, search, suggested users, reels, and feed recommendations.
Captioning the post, Konshens said he knew that Caribbean culture could get raunchy, but how were violent accidents, shootings, content from adult website Only Fans, and Get Ready With Me (GRWM) content with people in their underwear allowed on the social media platform? The Gal A Bubble artiste questioned if his post was more X-rated than the content he had listed or if Instagram did not understand the post.
Konshens clarified that it was not his intent to start an argument, but he genuinely wanted to get his viewers’ opinions. Several viewers expressed that the same thing happened to them and criticised Instagram for banning some content while allowing others.
Instagram recommends deleting posts that go against their recommendation guidelines or requesting a review. It is not clear if the artiste has filed a request to have the decision reviewed, but he has since deleted the posts he made on Sunday and Monday.
